September is REALTOR® Safety Month. For webinars, safety tips, broker toolkits, and products, go to nar.realtor/safety. NAR provides wonderful resources for agents, brokers, and our clients! Your brokerage should have a safety policy. Ask for it and please adhere to it!
Speaking of safety, COVID is still a risk factor and the directions we should be taking are not always clear. Once again, please ask for your brokerage’s safety policy and follow it. We should always be looking out for the safety of our clients, as well as our colleagues, and ourselves!
Unfortunately, many of the fall events (eg, Virginia REALTOR’s convention) are cancelling, postponing, moving to virtual or adding a virtual component. The VPAR REALTOR Fest committee decided to postpone their annual event until 2022. There are many, many factors to take into consideration when making these tough decisions. Just be aware and I ask you to be supportive and appreciative of those volunteering in these tough and often ungratifying times!
On a bright note, several sub-committees and councils have been knocking it out of the park! Carrie Spencer, Chair, and her Member Relations Committee have had great turn-outs at the recent Socials. Congratulations! Kelly Corbett, Chair, and her Risk Management Committee have scheduled informative programs consistently from the beginning of the year… Congratulations! And, Brooke Scutt, Acting Chair, and her Broker Council, have presented an Executive Leadership Series which has been excellent! There are 2 more sessions which have been opened to everyone. Next is Zan Monroe, October 14, 9:30am at the James River Country Club. Call Jo at VPAR to register! And, how about P.J. Parker, Chair, and the Technology Committee and their video messaging? Great work! Congratulations to all!
The VPAR Charitable Foundation has struggled this year as they have had to postpone or cancel one fundraising campaign after another. However, it looks like a go for our TopGolf Fundraiser, scheduled for November. Be on the lookout for flyers promoting the event. And, please, consider joining us for a worthwhile and FUN event!
Let me wrap up with a word about RPAC! We are very close to our annual goals! Volunteers will be helping the RPAC sub-committee achieve their goals with a phone bank fundraiser! Please have your “currency cards” ready for our calls!
See you in October!!
