Welcome to May! April Showers bring May Flowers! And, a new look to the VPAR Website. Not only a new look, but a new way to communicate information to our membership!
One of the first work groups I appointed was the Communications Strategy Workgroup. The objective of all communication is to “inform, educate and engage” the association membership. The workgroup task was to evaluate the current VPAR communications and formulate a strategy for the future.
Current communication assets in use are: Digital Magazine, Website, Facebook, and Emails. Without making huge shifts, the Board of Directors approved changes that would include an emphasis on social media and videos, consistency in design and dissemination, and current posts of relevant news items on both the VPAR website and Facebook page.
So, starting this month, we are saying “Bye-Bye” to the Monthly Digital Magazine! And, saying “Hullo!” to the new look and design of the VPAR website. You will still find the content you are used to – and MORE!! The biggest change is that content will be posted as it comes in. Not only will you find the monthly articles that you have been used to, but news of social events, fundraising events, classes, etc. will be posted as we receive them. All posts will be categorized, so you can search for past articles. The website articles will be posted to Facebook, so there will be consistency and ease in keeping up to date on communications!
The main headers have been reorganized, making it easier to find what you’re looking for. Our business partners and affiliates are spotlighted on the front page, reminding everyone to keep supporting them.
There is much more to come but we hope you will find the changes that have been made so far effective and easy to use!
We are slowly holding in-person events: the office is open for members to walk in; we had our first in-person social; we are holding some in-person classes; and, we are slowly moving towards in-person meetings. We have some other events looming on the horizon. And, it looks like in-person events are being scheduled on a larger scale, such as the NAR Leadership Academy! How exciting to get back to some normalcy with face to face networking and meetings!
As I write this, the NAR Mid-Year Legislation Meeting is wrapping up. How many of you were able to attend via ZOOM? If you were like me, you were probably busy trying to juggle your business and family with training and meetings! It is all a part of what we do! Thankfully, there are many leaders at VPAR that are representing the membership and making sure that we are advocating for you and your business to the best of our abilities!!
I wish you all a very productive and safe month of May and hope to see you face to face soon!
Sandra Hood, 2021 VPAR President
