Hampton, Virginia — The Virginia Peninsula Association of REALTORS® (VPAR) is pleased to announce the award of a $2,000 Virginia REALTORS® Community Outreach Grant that has been presented to the City of Newport News. Accepting the check on behalf of the City was Mayor McKinley Price, who offered appreciation to the members of VPAR and to the Association’s leadership.
In partnership with the Association, the City, through its Communications Department, intends to use the funds to develop a video highlighting the City’s diverse housing stock and its neighborhoods, its cultural and educational assets, and its economic and employment opportunities, showcasing Newport News as a great place to live, work and play.
VPAR is a leader in the City and throughout the Peninsula, and strives to engage its 1,100-plus members as resources to our local communities. The Association’s work is grounded in advocacy and in public policy, and has a keen focus on improving neighborhoods and increasing housing opportunities.
“REALTORS® work hard every day to make our cities and counties, our communities, our neighborhoods more viable, healthier, better and stronger. We are involved in issues that include land use and zoning, housing opportunity, affordable housing, community revitalization, transportation, recurrent flooding and economic development. Remember that we live here, too. For many of our members, Newport News is home. We work here, we play here, we make a place here. Making our communities the best they can be, and sharing that with the homebuying and selling public, is good for everyone in Newport News and on the Virginia Peninsula.”
The Virginia Peninsula Association of REALTORS, Inc.
