The Virginia Peninsula Association of REALTORS® Charitable Foundation was started in 1994 and is dedicated to improving the quality of life of those in need by providing housing related assistance and service for the Greater Peninsula Residents. They do this through both financial and hands-on assistance to various housing related charitable organizations in our local area.
On Friday, November 10th at the Newport News Marriott at City Center the Virginia Peninsula Association of REALTORS® Charitable Foundation was pleased to donate grants totaling $32,500 to various housing related charities. The organizations on hand to receive their check were The Menchville House, a forty-six bed emergency housing facility for homeless families; Transitions Family Violence Services, whose mission is to build safe and healthy families by providing prevention and intervention services to survivors of family violence on the Virginia Peninsula; The Natasha House that houses homeless women with children and provides life-skill supportive services that will break the homeless cycle and promote self-sufficiency; and Habitat for Humanity, who builds, then sells affordable homes to families with low incomes living or working on the Peninsula. Those organizations who were unable to attend the event but who will also be receiving a contribution from the Charitable Foundation are: The Living Interfaith Network (LINK), the Realtor Relief Fund, and the Huntington Community Land Trust.
